About Colette & Cocomay Handmade

Hi I’m Colette, the owner of Cocomay Handmade.  My passion for sewing and fabrics was sparked by my Dad, who was an upholsterer and was also encouraged by a number of creative teachers at the school I attended in Dublin.

I find it hard to pass a fabric shop without popping in and, of course, I never leave empty-handed. It’s a bit like being a child in a sweet shop! I love working with quality cotton, velvet, linen, tweed and faux fur to produce well-made items that have a practical use and are a little different to what you will find on the high street.

I started making gifts for my friends and family who were so pleased with their presents that they suggested I should start a small business to sell my products. So here I am!

Sustainability is very important to me so I only use high quality fabrics and make my products to be long-lasting and reusable including cotton tote bags and lunch bags.

If you are wondering what is behind the name Cocomay it is a combination of my childhood nickname and my Mum’s name.
